What have you been diagnosed with?
Fibromyalgia.
How did you first notice something was wrong with your health?
I had chronic widespread pain which was getting worse with time.
When did you first start experiencing symptoms?
In 2015.
How did you go about seeking a diagnosis?
I went through thousands of doctors and finally got diagnosis by a rheumatologist.
How long did it take for you to receive a diagnosis?
5 years.
How did you feel when you received your diagnosis?
I was scared and relieved at the same time.
How did you communicate your diagnosis with your loved ones?
It was very difficult as it was a rare diagnosis and no one knew what exactly happened with me. Fibromyalgia is very complicated but I somehow told them.
What treatments have you undergone and how have they impacted you?
I went through numerous treatments but nothing worked then I decided to help myself and things are better since then.
What is the most difficult part of your treatment, and how do you manage it?
Not knowing if treatment will work or not. I took thousands of medicines and later came to know that nothing works.
What has been the most challenging aspect of living with your condition?
Trying to navigate daily life and having a professional life with a chronic illness.
How has your daily life and routine been affected by your condition?
I lost myself somewhere in trying to live with a chronic illness.

How has your condition affected your mental health and emotional well-being?
It leads to depression and anxiety.
What strategies have you found helpful for managing your emotions and thoughts?
Taking one day at a time and focusing on present.
How has your diagnosis impacted your relationships with your friends and family?
I lost so many friends because of this illness because they couldn’t understand what I was going through.
What support systems have been helpful during your health journey?
Community support.
What advice would you give to your past self if you had the opportunity to go back in time?
I would tell her you are not insane and hug her.
How can others be more supportive and understanding of people with your condition?
By having an empathetic heart.
